(Waffen-SS Waffenrock M43 für Unterscharführer). A rare and well-preserved M43 tunic belonging to an Unterscharführer who served with an Armoured Cavalry/Reconnaissance unit in the 3rd SS Panzergrenadier Regiment “Deutschland”, constructed of field-grey wool. The tunic features a turned-down collar which is fully trimmed along the outer edge with a silver aluminum wire tresse. The collar is flanked by tabs constructed of black wool, each measuring 40 mm (w) x 50 mm (l) and partially obscured by the tresse. The right side insignia tab bears dual machine-embroidered silver-grey Sig runes, while the left side rank tab is pinned with a single silvered pip. The shoulders are flanked by straps constructed of black wool, trimmed with golden-yellow piping, and bordered by silver aluminum wire tresses. Each measuring 48 mm (w) x 105 mm (l), the straps are secured in place with a pebbled zink button on the inner edge and with a reverse strap which slips through an integral loop set into the tunic at the outer edge. Stitched onto the upper left arm is an insignia consisting of a black wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered, silver-grey, SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 90 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) overall, and demonstrates factory original zig-zag stitching. Also stitched onto the left arm at the cuff is a title constructed of black rayon, trimmed along both the top and bottom edges with silver aluminum wire tresses, and bearing a central machine-embroidered silver-grey inscription of “DEUTSCHLAND”. The cuff title measures 26 mm in width. The cuff of each sleeve features a vertical slit closing with a hidden grey rayon strap perforated with a single buttonhole, in turn meeting two black bakelite buttons for an adjustable fit. Each breast flap features two pockets, all closing with scalloped flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled zink buttons. The flaps close with five pebbled zink buttons on the right meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. Four sets of dual reinforced eyelets are distributed around the waistband for the accommodation of an optional belt. The majority of the interior is encompassed by a slate-grey herringbone twill (HBT) liner. It bears four straps, each inset with three reinforced eyelets which meet the aforementioned perforations. It is unmarked with the exception of partially-legible size dimensions stamped onto the right side in black ink. The tunic measures . Minor material fatigue consistent with age and field use is evident, but the tunic presents with no notable damage or faults, and is in an overall nea extremely fine condition.
