Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare Identity Badge of the Military Administration of Belgium and Northern France

(Wehrmacht Dienstabzeichen für Angestellte der Militärverwaltung Belgien und Nord Frankreich). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval disc, finished in a Wehrmacht red, white, and black tri-colour motif, the black enameled band bearing a silvered inscription of “MILITÄRVERWALTUNG BELGIEN UND N. FRANKREICH” (“MILITARY ADMINISTRATION BELGIUM AND NORTHERN FRANCE”), overlaid by a silvered Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, stamped with an identity number of “3158”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 51.23 mm (w)x 29.41 mm (h), weighing 10.4 grams, a scarce identity badge in extremely fine condition.
