(Ordine Militare di Savoia). Instituted in 1815, revised in 1855. In 18K Gold with red, white and green enamels, weighing 8.1 grams, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), two small chips evident in two leaves on the wreath between the arms at 9 and 12 o'clock on the reverse, otherwise the enamels are intact, original ribbon, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Military Order of Savoy was instituted in 1815 and revised on September 28, 1855. It was discontinued on January 2, 1947, becoming the Military Order of Italy, with the initials "RI" (Repubblica Italiana) replacing the crossed swords under "1855" from the original "Savoy" version. It was awarded for military merit, in five grades: I Class Knight Grand Cross, II Class Grand Officer, III Class Commander, IV Class Officer and V Class Knight.
