(Schutzmannschaft Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Offiziere). A very well-preserved Schutzmannschaft Officer’s M43 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped toward the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two pebbled and grey-painted zink buttons which emanate from the right flap and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. A length of silver aluminum wire piping fully trims the crown along the outer edge. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of an oval black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered elongated mobile swastika, set within a laurel leaf wreath, measuring 36 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical wool. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece silver-grey rayon liner, which also features a partial grey leather sweatband set across the forehead. A size mark of “57” is stamped onto the crown in black ink. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 19 cm (w) x 24.5 cm (l) x 13 cm (h). Moderate soiling and material fatigue consistent with field wear is evident to the interior, but the cap remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
