(Kriegsmarine Schirmmütze für Admiral). A rare and exceptionally well-preserved Kriegsmarine Admiral’s visor cap, constructed of dark navy blue wool. The cap features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a ribbed black mohair cap band. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark blue wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 75 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the centre of the cap band features an additional insignia consisting of a padded dark navy blue backer bearing a central tri-colour cockade executed in aluminum wire with a wool centrepiece, situated within a gold bullion wire oak leaf wreath. The wreath and cockade measures 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (h). The cap band is flanked by two gilded bronze buttons bearing raised fouled anchors, securing in place a black leatherette chinstrap which is adjusted with a functional non-magnetic metal button. The exterior features are complete with a protruding black vulcanfibre visor which is layered with smooth black wool on the top, in turn bearing four gold bullion wire oak leaf branches. The interior retains an intact light brown leather sweatband, perforated along the circumference with ventilation holes and additional openings which reveal a grey rayon drawstring. A black rayon-blended liner fully encompasses the interior, with the crown retaining an intact transparent plastic moisture guard. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 25.5 cm (w) x 26 cm (l) x 15.5 cm (h). Demonstrating no evident damage or wear, this scarce cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
