Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare 1939 Iron Cross II Class, Spanish-Made for Blue Division Personnel, Wartime Issue c. 1944

(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse für Freiwillige der Blauen Division). Constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with bronze clasp and horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, unmarked, measuring 45.33 mm (w) x 45.40 mm (h), weighing 26.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon and clasp), demonstrating minor surface oxidation, a rare wartime example of a Spanish manufactured award in near extremely fine condition.
