United Kingdom. A South Africa Medal with 1878 Clasp to Pte. Mahoney, 1/13th Foot

Instituted August 1880. In silver, full size, rim engraved 400 PTE.M. MAHONEY. 1/13 TH. FOOT., worn on original ribbon with 1878 clasp, light wear and oxidation on reverse and rim, remains in very fine condition.

Footnote: Pte M. Mahoney served with the 1st Battalion, 13th Prince Albert’s Light Infantry. He is confirmed on the roll for the 1878 clasp.
