Liberia. A Humane Order of African Redemption, Officer, by Chobillon, c.1900

Of French manufacture, in silver gilt with light blue, white, red, light green, dark green and brown enamels, obverse bearing “The love of liberty brought us here”, chipping evident in the white enamels on obverse at 12 o’clock and 7 o’clock, and at 12 o’clock on reverse, chipping on laurel wreath suspension, measuring at 41.81mm (w) x 66.51mm (h) (inclusive on wreath suspension.), weighing at 25 grams, maker marked chobillon of Paris hallmarked on the loop, silver hallmarked on integral loop with boars head denoting French silver manufacture post 1868, on its original ribbon, remains very fine.
