In 18K Gold, a red enamelled cross with ball finials, the obverse medallion features the bust of St. Gregory on a blue enamel field surrounded by the inscription ST. GREGORIUS MAGNUS, the reverse medallion presents an inscription PRO DEO ET PRINCIPE on a blue field, surrounded by a ring inscribed GREGORIUS XVI P. M. ANNO. I., missing the suspension, measures 58.0mm (w) x 58.0mm (h), weighs 49.4 grams (including neck ribbon), worn on a St. Sylvester neck ribbon, marked on suspension 750 and AGRU, enamels intact on arms, very minor wear to reverse medallion, maker created suspension ring, remains in very fine condition.
Contained in its case of issue, a red leatherette exterior with Vatican seal on the obverse, interior white silk lid marked A. CASAZZA ROMA, the base in crème coloured velvet, measures 135mm (w) x 161mm (h) x 30mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, light wear, remains in very fine condition.
