(Ordem de Cristo). Instituted in 1319. Type I (1789-1910). In silver gilt, a red enamel cross with 17 large glass stones in the center, the reverse is plain, surmounted by a sacred heart suspension in red, white and black enamels, with an ornate suspension loop above, reverse of each also plain, measures 41.4mm (w) x 86.8mm (h – inclusive of sacred heart suspension and integral loop, weighs 30.8 grams, minor enamel wear to the suspension, small areas of enamel repairs on cross, in otherwise extremely fine condition.
