Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge, by A.G.M.u.K

(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaying a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “M.u.K.” for Arbeitsgemeinschaft Metall und Kunststoff, measuring 43.36 mm (w) x 56.27 mm (h), weighing 33.3 grams, demonstrating some loss of finish and minor oxidation, in very fine condition.
