(Sturmabteilung Einheitsfeldmütze M43). An extremely well-preserved Sturmabteilung (SA) Staff Officer’s M43 field cap, constructed of light brown/olive-drab wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two pebbled magnetic metal buttons emanating from the right flap and meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. A length of silver aluminum wire piping fully trims the outer edge of the crown. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a light brown rayon backer bearing a light green triangle, in turn bearing a machine-embroidered, silver aluminum wire, SA-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The insignia measures 64 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical wool. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece, olive-drab, cotton/rayon-blended liner. The right side retains an intact Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) lavel, while the crown is stamped with a black ink size mark of “55”. The cap measures approximately 18 cm (w) x 25 mm (l) x 14 cm (h). Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, this scarce cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
