(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of four First World War patriotic badges, including:
1. A Central Powers propaganda badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of the flags of Germany, Austria, Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, flanked by German and Austrian imperial eagles and topped by a banner bearing an inscription of “GOTT STRAFE ENGLAND” (“GOT PUNISH ENGLAND”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 29 mm (w) x 23 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A Central Powers shield badge, constructed silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a shield executed in Austrian colours, topped by German, Hungarian, and Ottoman flags, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 18 mm (w) x 21 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. An Austro-German alliance badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a German flag overlaid by the flags of Austria and Hungary, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 24 mm (w) x 25 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A Central Powers pendant badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of mirrored German and Austro-Hungarian flags, the former bearing a date of “1914”, with a pendant bearing an Ottoman flag descending from the lower edge, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 28 mm (w) x 16 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
