A striking and unique commemorative plaque for the victory of the Nationalist forces in the Spanish Civil War, consisting of a black painted wooden base, the obverse bearing a silvered and gilded bronze applique, consisting of a centrepiece featuring a raised and gilded map of Spain with sun rays shining down from the heavens, topped by aircraft and a Spanish national eagle clutching discs bearing the emblems of Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Japan, situated above an inscription of “VERNICHTUNG DES WELTFEINDES NO. 1 IN SPANIEN 1936-1937-1938” (“DESTRUCTION OF THE WORLD’S NUMBER ONE ENEMY IN SPAIN 1936-1937-1938”), flanked on each side by a downward-pointing bomb, with the left side bearing an inscription of “ESPAÑA, UNA, GRANDE, LIBRE” (“SPAIN, ONE, GREAT, FREE”) and on the right by an inscription of “¡ARRIBA ESPAÑA!” (“SPAIN ARISE!”), unmarked, measuring 38 mm (w) x 65 mm (h), the German language inscription indicating possible issue to a member of the Condor Legion, an interesting commemorative plaque in extremely fine condition.
