Instituted in 1818. In silver gilt, with seven white enamelled arms, both centrepieces in Gold with blue enamels, each with painted background and superimposed enamelled figures illustrating St. Michael the Archangel slaying Satan on the obverse and St. George the patron saint of England slaying a dragon on the reverse, measuring 62.6mm (w) x 59.57mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 70.5 grams (including ribbon), worn on an original full length neck ribbon, small enamel flake to obverse inscription ring, minor enamel damage to medallions, scattered gilt wear on arms, superimposed figures are slightly loose on the medallions, lovely details, in overall better than very fine condition.
