Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Grand Duchy. A War Service Cross, II Class

(Kreuz für Auszeichnung im Kriege I. Klasse). Instituted 1 January 1915 by Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich IV. (1915-1923 issue). Constructed of silver on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with ribbed arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed monogram of Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich IV, the six o’clock arm bearing a date of “1914”, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “TAPFER UND TREU” (“BRAVERY AND LOYALTY”), unmarked, measuring 40.08 mm (w) x 44.57 mm (h), weighing 19.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
