(Luftwaffe Soldbuch mit Verleihungsurkunde). A pair of paper documents named to Gefreiter Leopold Mayrhofer, who served with the Luftwaffe Field Battalion (a probationary unit with a notoriously high casualty rate), including:

1. A Soldbuch, constructed of a beige card stock binding with paginated interior pages filled with stamped and handwritten entries, the interior of the cover retaining a certified black-and-white photo of Mayrhofer in a Luftwaffe Obergefreiter uniform, with information indicating that he received the 1939 Iron Cross II Class on 2 July 1944, measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 14.5 cm (h), demonstrating extensive material fatigue and moisture exposure consistent with being secreted on Mayrhofer’s person during the war, retaining a handwritten note dated 8 July 1945 indicating that he survived the war, in very fine condition.

2. An award document for a Luftwaffe Flak Badge, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, named to Mayrhofer as a Gefreiter serving with the Luftwaffe Field Battalion, issued at headquarters on 18 November 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Generalleutnant, measuring 21 cm (w) x 29.5 cm (h), demonstrating folding creases throughout, in very fine condition.
