Germany, Kriegsmarine. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords and Award Document to Schreibermaat Herbert Krause

(Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “71” for Rudolf Leukert, Gablonz, measuring 48.15 mm (w) x 48.39 mm (h), weighing 22.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by its award document, constructed of off white paper stock with black ink, named to Schreibermaat Herbert Krause, issued in Athens on 30 January 1944, certified by the handwritten signature of Vizeadmiral Siegfried Maßmann, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating soiling throughout, in very fine condition.
