Instituted August 1880. In silver, full size, rim engraved 2887. PTE. F. RESBRIDGE 2-24TH FOOT., worn on replacement ribbon with privately maufactured 1879 clasp, minor edge knocks, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Frederick Resbridge is on the medal roll for the South Africa Medal, as he served with the 2nd Battalion.
Resbridge enlisted wit the 40th brigade at Winchester on May 27, 1876. He was promoted to lance corporal on April 17, 1879, and began serving twit the 24th foot on May 20, 1879. He was a lance corporal with pay on the October 24, 1879, but reverted to a private on November 15, 1879. He was again promoted to lance corporal on February 18, 1881 and remained at this rank until July 19, when he was in confinement for being absent and drunk. In mid July, he was tried, reduced, and fined.
He served abroad on the Cape of Good Hope from May 1879 to February 11 1880; Gibraltar from February 12 1880 to August 10 1880; India from August 11 1880 [to undisclosed date]; and South Africa in 1879.
He was discharged on June 2, 1888 at Brecon, at the age of 31 due to the expiry of his first term.
