(Waffen-SS Tarnkapuze in Eichenbruchmuster). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS reversible camouflage hood, constructed of a padded and weatherproofed cotton/rayon blend. The exterior is dyed in an SS oak leaf B camouflage consisting of a grey base overlaid by irregular splotches of light and dark brown. It features a skirt of separate construction, securely stitched into place along the lower seam, to protect the wearer’s neck from the elements, while protruding chin flaps allow for secure closure with an integrated drawstring. Notably, it is flanked on each side by an earhole covered by grey wool to allow for maximum functionality. The interior is finished in an unblemished white to be worn inside-out in winter field conditions. Stamped onto the lower skirt on the winter side is a size mark of “57”, topped by an indeterminate code of “933”. Otherwise unmarked, the hood measures approximately 42 cm (w) x 48 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. The winter side demonstrates soiling consistent with age and field use, but the hook shows no other signs of damage or wear and is in an overall extremely fine condition.
