(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Kreuz II./III. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1939-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the obverse overlaid across the three and nine o’clock arms with a crossed sword clasp, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a fan suspension with an integral loop and ring retaining a period original full length of neck ribbon, the integral loop marked with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 50.34 mm (w) x 58.60 mm (h), weighing 29.9 grams, demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, in extremely fine condition.
