A modern issued example consisting of a silver neck badge with red and blue enamels, measuring at 63.3mm (w) x 87.1mm (h- to top of crown suspension), weighing 43.6 grams; accompanied by silver Breast Star with red enameled centerpiece, with vertical pinback, measuring at 81.7mm (w) x 79.3mm (h), weighing at 50.5 grams, in case of issue.
Footnote: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917 to recognize civilian war efforts in Great Britain and elsewhere in the British Empire. Military and civil divisions were established the following year. It has since grown into the most widely awarded order in the United Kingdom. The Sovereign is the head of the Order and makes the appointment of the Grand Master.
