Saxony, Kingdom. A Commemorative Cross for 1870/71

(Erinnerungskreuz für 1870/71). Instituted 6 March 1871 by King Johann. (1871 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Johann, set within a blue enameled ring, the reverse bearing central raised dates “1870-1871”, unmarked, measuring 27.24 mm (w) x 31.72 mm (h), weighing 10.8 grams, demonstrating minor verdigris, in extremely fine condition.
