Naming is officially impressed, however, much of it has been scratched out in an erasing attempt with the characters remaining faint. Semi-dark patina on the obverse, multiple contact marks on the edge, contact marks and pitting overall, replacement ribbon, near fine.

Middlemiss, 22nd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (South Shields) was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the announcement appearing in the Third Supplement to the London Gazette 30750 of Friday, June 14, 1918, on Monday, June 17, 1918, page 7158. He was also a recipient of the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
