(Kriegsmarine Schiffchen). A well-preserved, French-made Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of dark blue wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark blue rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered golden-yellow Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 60 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the centre of the walls is stitched with a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade set onto a dark blue rayon backer, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner. Stamped onto the right side in white ink is a maker’s mark of “CHAPELIÈRE PARISIENNE, PARIS”, flanked by a size mark of “56”. It measures approximately 280 mm (l) x 130 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Free of evident wear or damage, the cap is in an overall extremely fine condition.
