Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 Overseas Cap

(Waffen-SS Schiffchen M40 für Männer der Panzertruppe). A very well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls with slight frontal scalloping. Visible on the peak is the unmistakable outline of an insignia consisting of a SS-style German national eagle, while directly underneath the centre of the cap band demonstrates the outline of a second pattern SS Totenkopf, both lost to time. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner. It is unmarked with the exception of a white ink size mark of “55”. The cap measures approximately 288 mm (l) x 120 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. With the exception of the carefully removed insignia, the cap demonstrates no damage or wear and remains in an extremely fine condition.
