Breast Star; V Period, Three-piece construction, bronze gilt insignia with a bronze centerpiece, along with red, white and blue enamels, mounted to a ten-point star base, vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs, crazing evident in the white enamels on the star points, measuring at 70.47 mm (w) x 69.52 mm (h), and weighing at 84.4 grams; Star in bronze gilt with ball finials, in white enamels, with bronze gilt laurel wreath in each quadrant, obverse centre displaying a female bust, symbol of the republican government, surrounded by the inscription REPUBLICA DE CHILE (Chilean Republic), reverse centre in bronze gilt exhibiting the inscription AL MERITO (for Merit), suspended by a detailed flying condor also in bronze gilt, measuring 46.30mm (w) x 70.35 mm (h - inclusive of condor suspension), accompanied by original of time period ribbon, near to mint.
