Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a green enameled oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a white enameled shield bearing a gilt insignia, overlaid by a central Austrian national eagle in mid-flight, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “F. PELTZ, WIEN”, measuring 60.17 mm (w) x 58.16 mm (h), weighing 24.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
