Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 Overseas Cap

(Waffen-SS Schiffchen für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which slope downward toward the front. The peak bears the unmistakable outline of an SS-style German national eagle insignia which has been carefully removed from the cap. Directly below, the centre of the wall similarly demonstrates the outline of an SS-style Totenkopf insignia which has been removed with only minimal disruption to the base material. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black cotton/rayon-blended liner. A white ink size mark of “57” is visible on the crown. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 29 cm (l) x 14 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
