Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Pilot’s Badge, c. 1918

Constructed of silvered brass, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the reverse with a narrow barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 45.30 mm (w) x 71.03 mm (h), weighing 13.2 grams, with moderate wear evident to the finish, a late-war badge in very fine condition.
