(NSFK Flugzeugführerabzeichen für Motorflugzeugen). Instituted 1 May 1939 by Korpsführer Friedrich Christiansen. (1939-1942 issue). A rare National Socialist Flyers Corps (NSFK) Motor Pilot’s Badge, constructed of silvered magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, just beneath a detailed NSFK insignia consisting of a stylized depiction of Icarus, topped by a semi-circular ring bearing initials “NSFK”, with a mobile swastika overlaying the legs, diagonally across the badge is a two seater propeller-driven monoplane, the reverse with an integral hinge and flattened horizontal pinback meeting a flattened integral catch, marked with a patent number of “22639”, measuring 48.09 mm (w) x 56.70 mm (h), weighing 26.7 grams, with minor loss of finish evident to high-contact points and some sporadic oxidation throughout the reverse, a scarce badge in overall better than very fine condition.
