Germany, Kriegsmarine. An EM/NCO’s Board Cap, by Hans Brandt

(Kriegsmarine Schiffchen für Mannschaften). An extremely well-preserved Kriegsmarine EM/NCO’s board cap, constructed of dark blue wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which slope downward toward the front. The interior is fully encompassed by a slate-grey rayon liner which is stamped with a white ink size mark of “57”, in turn situated above a Reichsbetriebsnummer (RBNr.) of “0/0265/5044” indicating manufacture by Hans Brandt, Magdeburg, with a date of “1943”. It measures approximately 28 cm (l) x 11.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. The peak insignia have been carefully removed with only minimal disturbance to the base material, and the cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
