(Heer Schiffchen). An extremely well-preserved Heer Tropical EM/NCO’s overseas cap, constructed of olive-drab cotton twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down scalloped side panels, and is flanked on each side by a ventilation hole reinforced with a brown-painted zink eyelet. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of a light brown cotton backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The eagle insignia measures 65 mm (w) x 30 mm (h). Underneath the eagle, the cap is also stitched with a machine-embroidered tricolour cockade, set on a light brown cotton backer, measuring 34 mm (w) x 34 mm (h). The interior features a complete red cotton liner, with the crown bearing a black stamped mark of “LANDESLIEFERUNGS-GENOSSENSCHAFT “AGO” FÜR HESSEN”, indicating manufacture by a collective of tailors in Hesse, with an additional size stamp of “59” and a manufacture date of “1943”. The cap measures 295 mm (l) x 105 mm (h) and is in an extremely fine condition.
