Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a central U-Boat superimposed over a hollow void the reverse with a barrel hinge and narrow vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/13” for Pau Meybauer, Berlin, measuring 47.72 mm (w) x 38.86 mm (h), weighing 18.3 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of gilt finish, a scarce example in very fine condition.
