Macedonia. A Silver Tetradrachm, c.167-149 BC

Currency. (Antiquity). A silver tetradrachm bearing bust of the Goddess Artemis with a quiver over her shoulder encircled by a Macedonian shield on obverse, reverse bearing the club of Herakles encircled in a Oak Wreath with inscribed phrase “ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ ΠΡΩΤΗΣ” (translation: Of the First [region] of the Macedonians), measuring 29.22mm (w) x 26.19mm (h), weighing 16.7 grams, light wear, remains in very fine condition.
