Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of a sea mine exploding, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but with the physical characteristics of a badge identified as being produced by Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid, measuring 43.46 mm (w) x 54.18 mm (h), weighing 23.6 grams, most of the finish has been lost and the reverse is missing its stabilizing pin, in very fine condition.
