A museum example of a Golden Chain to the Military Karl Friedrich Merit Order, constructed of gilded silver executed in the finest quality craftsmanship, consisting of 26 links joined together by dual loops, with 13 of the links consisting of monograms of Grand Duke Karl Friedrich, and with 13 of the links consisting of a medallions bearing a raised Baden griffin clutching a sword and shield overlaid by a Duchy emblem, one end with a reverse clip meeting a loop emanating from the opposite end for neck suspension, unmarked, the monogram links measuring approximately 32 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), the medallion links measuring approximately 21 mm in diameter, weighing 230 grams overall, with only minor tarnishing evident, a superb display piece in extremely fine condition.
