Germany, Kriegsmarine. A U-Boat War Badge, by Friedrich Orth

(U-Boot-Kriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a central U-Boat set over a hollow background, the reverse with a crimped hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 48.79 mm (w) x 39.74 mm (h), weighing 19.8 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of gilt finish, in very fine condition.
