(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Kreuz IV. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1937-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a vaulted Maltese Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms, joined through the quadrants by gilded NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback bearing a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 47.45 mm (w) x 48.69 mm (h), weighing 20.7 grams, the enamels demonstrating some flecking and a small chip to the twelve o’clock arm which has been carefully repaired, with additional wear to the gilt finish of the reverse, in better than very fine condition.
