Libya, Arab Republic. An Order of Good Workmanship, c.1970

Type I. 1969-1977 Issue. Insignia in silver gilt with red, white and black enamels, mounted to a ten-pointed star base with faceted rays, marked "800" (silver) and maker marked "BOMISA MILANO" on the reverse, measuring 66 mm (w) x 69 mm (h), vertical pinback, intact enamels, scattered gilt wear evident on the wreath, near extremely fine.

Footnote: This version is type I of the order, as defined by the red, white and black colours of the Libyan Arab Republican flags of the period, 1969-1977, when the order was introduced, and all green after 1977 when it was known as the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, giving birth to type II.
