Germany, Heer. A Krim Shield

(Heer Krimschild). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates “1941-1942”, affixed with three reverse attachment prongs to a zink backplate with a field-grey wool liner indicating Heer issue, the reverse retaining an intact paper backer, unmarked, the shield measuring 52.66 mm (w) x 61.80 mm (h), one attachment prong is missing and the wool demonstrates slight material fatigue, in near extremely fine condition.
