Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Tropical Field Tunic

(Waffen-SS Tropen Feldbluse). An unusual and extremely well-preserved Waffen-SS field tunic, constructed of khaki-tan cotton twill. It features a turned-down collar, while the upper left sleeve features an insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered, khaki-tan, SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Measuring 90 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), the eagle retains its factory original zig-zag stitching. Four breast pockets are set into the breast, all closing with pebbled and khaki-tan painted buttons meeting reinforced buttonholes. The top pockets are pleated, and the tunic is unusually without the classic shoulder yoke typically characteristic of Waffen-SS tunics, which typically provide the flaps of the top pockets on SS tropical garments. The interior is plain and unmarked. It measures approximately 47 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 55 cm, and an overall body length of 73 cm. Demonstrating consistent but minor soiling throughout the exterior, this interesting tunic remains in an extremely fine condition.
