(Waffen-SS Tropen Feldbluse). A well-preserved Waffen-SS Sahariana-style tropical field blouse, constructed of ribbed tan-coloured cotton twill. It features a classic overlaid shoulder yoke extending across the upper shoulder and breast flaps, with a scalloped front and integrated loops for the accommodation of straps on top of each shoulder. Stitched onto the left upper arm is an insignia in the form of a black rayon baker bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Measuring 85 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), the insignia is an authentic non-tropical variation added to the blouse post-manufacture. The cuff of each sleeve features a vertical slit, with one side bearing two brown bakelite buttons meeting a reinforced buttonhole on the opposite side, providing for a custom fit. Each breast flap features two pockets, all opening with reinforced horizontal flaps bearing reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled non-ferrous metal buttons. The shoulder yoke provides the close flaps for the two upper pockets. The interior features two narrow pockets, with one set onto the lower portion of each flap, closing with reinforced buttonholes meeting brown bakelite buttons stitched directly onto the flaps. Dual tan-coloured cotton drawstring emanate from the lower back, and the interior completes with a cotton suspension loop set into the reverse of the collar. The blouse is fully unmarked and measures 455 mm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 590 mm and an overall body length of 650 mm. Material fatigue consistent with age and field use is evident, with wear to the cuffs and edges of the flap evident, in addition to sporadic holes and soiling. The blouse is in an overall better than very fine condition.
