Germany, DLV. A Rare Vehicle Emblem, by Wilhelm Deumer

(Deutscher Luftsportverband Motorhaubenemblem). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a Deutscher Luftsportverband (German Air Sports Association/DLB) insignia in the form of a red enameled ring overlaid by a pair of stylized wings joined together in the centre by a propeller, in turn defaced by a black mobile swastika, the reverse with two threaded lugs for attachment to a vehicle, maker marked “WILH. DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 15 cm (w) x 8 cm (h), minor scratching is visible to the red enameled ring, in addition to moderate chipping of the swastika and slight loss of finish to the base metal, all consistent with debris exposure from placement on a vehicle, a rare emblem in very fine condition.
