Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with crown apparatus, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central crowned monogram of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, circumscribed by a dedication and set within a circular laurel and oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 34.60 mm (w) x 59.90 mm (h), weighing 20.7 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
