(Heer Schiffchen M35 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s M35 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. The crown is flanked on each side by ventilation holes reinforced with zink grommets. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 26 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the cap features an additional insignia in the form of a black rayon diamond bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey rayon-blended liner. Stamped onto the crown in black ink is a maker’s mark of “M. MERTES NACHF. MÜTZENFABRIK, NÜRNBERG”, with a manufacture date of “1941” and a size mark of “56”. It measures approximately 28 cm (l) x 12 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating not notable damage or wear, this high-quality example remains in an extremely fine condition.
