Germany, SS. A Sheet of Unfinished Runic Breast Insignia, by Franz Otto

(SS Insignien). A rare sheet of unfinished SS runic breast insignia, constructed of a police-green wool backer with a buckram underlay, the obverse bearing five pair of machine-embroidered silver-grey threaded double Sig runes, the latter awaiting the addition of silver aluminum wire threading, each situated within a circular machine-embroidered ring and all framed within a machine-embroidered rectangular border, the reverse retaining an intact paper liner and stamped with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/70” for Franz Otto, Wuppertal-Elberfeld, measuring 17.5 cm (w) x 11.5 cm (h) overall, a scarce and superb example of unissued and factory-original SS insignia in extremely fine condition.
