(Luftwaffe dunkelblaue Fliegerjacke). An extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe dark blue flight jacket, more commonly known as a Kanaljacke (Channel Jacket). Constructed of a dark blue cotton blend, it features a turned-down collar lined on the obverse with thick brown wool, with two straps emanating from the reverse of the left meeting a loop and arrangement of snap buttons on the left for secure closure. Each cuff has a functional zipper fastening closed with an integral snap button for an adjustable fit. Dual side pockets are set into the lower halves of each breast, both closed with a strap inset with a functional snap button. The interior is fully encompassed by a thick dark brown wool liner which continues uninterrupted from the collar, providing excellent insulation from frigid conditions while in flight. A hidden channel set into the waistband features a strap which emanates from both sides and fits through an analogous magnetic metal buckle. A white cotton label previously bearing handwritten and typewritten owner and manufacturer information, with the illegible remnants of an additional stamp visible on the right pocket. It measures approximately 50 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 61.5 cm, and an overall body length of 64 cm. Demonstrating only minor, age-appropriate signs of wear, this scarce and high-quality flight jacket remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
