France, July Monarchy. A Legion of Honour, Knight, c.1845

Institution Date: 1802. Type IV (1830-1848). In silver gilt with enamels, obverse inscription “HENRI VI” and reverse inscription "HONNEUR ET PATRIE” (translation: honour and country), with a crown suspension, marked with a boars head on the 6 o'clock ribbon tassel denoting Paris manufacture and 800 silver fineness, measuring at 44.7mm (w) x 65.9mm (h- to top of suspension), weighs 21.4 grams, with crazing and chips to enamel, worn on original ribbon in very fine condition.
