Russia, Imperial. A 1905 Russo-Japanese War Medal

Institution Date: January 21, 1906. In bronze, with the Eye of Providence on the obverse, measuring at 28.1mm (w) x 36.7mm (h) and weighing at 16.8 grams, on period ribbon, in very fine condition.

Footnote: The medal was instituted on January 21, 1906 during the reign of Nicholas II. It was created to commemorate the 1904-1905 conflict between the Russian and Japanese Empires. The bronze version was bestowed upon the higher ranks of military and civilian personnel, border guards and volunteers that had taken active part in the conflict.
